What is this movie about?

 

The 1979 Iran Hostage Crisis.  The United States Embassy in Iran is taken over in an attempt to extradite the Iranian leader from the United States.  A few of the Americans diplomats escape and the CIA develops a mission to bring them home.

 

What I think

I have to admit at the outset...I am a Ben Affleck fan.  So I was happy to see him tackle a project like this.  Tough subject.  That said...it started slow.  Thankfully it got better.  Much better.  The insertion of humor brought this picture to life for me.  It felt like there was a sense of personality that took this from a dull subject piece to an intriguing film.  You're rooting for them.  You're imploring them to hurry up so they don't get caught.  You can feel their fear.  By the end of the movie, you can breathe.  Obviously, it helps that we know how it ends.  But still. 

If you want to learn something and be entertained at the same time: This would be the movie to see!

Go with your gut.  You know what to do.
